Jelena Đuriš (maiden name Petrović) was born on 1983 in Derventa. She completed elementary school and gymnasium in Herceg Novi. She graduated at the University in Belgrade – Faculty of Pharmacy in 2007 with an average mark of 9,71. In 2010 she received her PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Pharmacy with PhD thesis entitled "Characterization of hydrophilic and lipid matrix tablets using in silico methods". The thesis was rewarded as the best doctoral dissertation in 2010 by the Chamber of Commerce of Belgrade. Jelena Đuriš defended the thesis in academic specialization studies in Industrial pharmacy entitled "The application of Quality by Design concept in in the process of fluidized bed granulation" in 2011 at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Pharmacy.

Since 2007 she is employed at the University in Belgrade – Faculty of Pharmacy as: teaching associate (2007-2008), teaching assistant (2008-2012), and assistant professor (from 2014 - to date) at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Cosmetology. She is involved in the teaching activities in integrated academic studies (Pharmaceutical Technology II and Industrial Pharmacy courses), specialization academic studies in Industrial Pharmacy and both specialization and doctoral studies in Pharmaceutical Technology.

From 2008 to 2010 she was engaged in the project of technological development entitled "Development and application of in vitro and in silico methods in biopharmaceutical characterization of BCS class 2 and 3 drugs" (TR-23015), and starting from the year of 2011 she is engaged in the project of technical development entitled "Development of products and technologies that enable desired drug release from solid oral dosage forms" (TR-34007) funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia. From 2010 until 2012 she was engaged on Tempus project entitled "Postgraduate Qualification in Pharmacy - The Way Forward".

During her PhD studies she was a guest researcher at the Industrial Pharmacy Laboratory at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Basel, Switzerland. During 2011 she received a scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia for her postdoctoral studies at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, School of Pharmacy at the University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
