Lada Živković, born in December, 19th 1970, in Belgrade, where she finished primary school Vladislav Ribnikar and High School Specialized for Mathematics Veljko Vlahovic. She enrolled in the Faculty of Molecular Biology and Physiology, University of Belgrade, in 1990/1991, and graduated in 1996, with a GPA 8,2. During the studies she completed an internship in the Karyobiology Laboratory of Prof dr Pat Helpson-Harrison, John Innes Institute, Norwich, Great Britain. At the final year of her studies, Lada Zivkovic obtained a two-month scholarship (Training and Work Experience Scheme) in Laboratory for Genetics and Breeding, Horticulture Research Institute, Kent, Great Britain, where she conducted experiments for her diploma thesis. She defended her final exam thesis, named “Effect of Extraction on the Quantity and Purity of the DNA“ she with the best grade, under the supervision of Academician Prof dr Dragan Marinkovic.

She enrolled in postgraduate studies, at the Department Genetics, at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade in 1996/1997.

Lada Zivkovic worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of Genetics and Breeding, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade from 1996 to 1997. During 1997, she got a fellowship to complete course „Plant Biotechnology and Application”, International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) Chania, Crete, Greece. In 1998, she completed two week course „Molecular and Biotechnological Aspect of Sexual Reproduction in Higher Plants”, Martonvásár, Hungary, UNESCO.

Since September 2000, she has been employed as a Junior Teaching and Research Assistant at the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, on the course of Biology and Human Genetics.

She completed her Master thesis titled "Cytogenetic Analysis of Premature Centromere Division in Alzheimer Disease Patients " in 2004, at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, under the supervision of Prof dr Biljana Potparevic.

Lada Zivkovic obtained an academic degree of Doctor of Biological science at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade in 2010, and then was appointed Assistant Professor. She defended her thesis titled ''Genomic instability in Alzheimer disease patients'' under the supervision of Academician Prof dr Marko Andjelkovic and Prof dr Biljana Potparevic.

Lada Zivkovic teaches Biology and Human Genetics, Molecular genetics and Biotechnology.

Since 2001, she has been involved in scientific projects financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a researcher. Currently, she is engaged in the Scientific Project which represents a bilateral co-operation between Faculty of Pharmacy, Univeristy of Belgrade, Serbia and Faculty of Medicine, University of Ancona, Italy.

She is a co-author of the workbook for the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy “Workbook of biology and human genetics”. Areas of her research interest are Role of centromere and centromere associated proteins in Alzheimers Disease, Genetics of ageing, genotoxicology. She is a member of the Serbian Genetical Society, the Serbian Alzheimer's Disease Society. The most important publications can be found at the PubMed.
