CV

Slavica Ražić graduated from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Pharmacy, where she obtained an MS degree. She earned her PhD at the Faculty of Chemistry, Department of Analytical Chemistry, in 2000. Since 2012, Slavica Ražić has been a full professor. She served as Chair of the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, during several terms (2003–2007 and 2022–2025). She has supervised numerous bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral theses and has served on many dissertation defense and election committees in Serbia, Spain, Greece, Austria, and Macedonia.

Slavica is Elected member of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS) Executive Board and a member of the Steering Committee of the Division of Analytical Chemistry (DAC-EuChemS). She is also a Titular member of the Analytical Chemistry Division of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (ACD-IUPAC) and its representative on the Interdivisional Committee on Green Chemistry for Sustainable Development (ICGCSD). From 2012 to 2016, she was Vice President of the Serbian Chemical Society (SCS).

Academic awards and honors include: a letter of appreciation from the Faculty of Pharmacy for the successful promotion of the Faculty and outstanding results in scientific and research work (2019 and 2023); Honorary Member of SCS for exceptional contributions (2017); Meritorious Member of SCS for activities and contributions (2008); and the Annual Award of the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce for the best PhD thesis in 2001.

Slavica Ražić is a member of the international advisory boards of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry (Springer), Advances in Sample Preparation (Elsevier), and Journal of Research in Pharmacy. She served as editor for analytical chemistry in the Journal of the Serbian Chemical Society (2004–2023). She is an editor and reviewer for more than 40 international scientific journals. Slavica has chaired or been a member of scientific and organizing committees for numerous international scientific conferences.

Over the past decade, Slavica’s research has focused on developing analytical methods for environmental and natural food samples, assisted by chemometric analysis and aligned with the principles of green and sustainable chemistry. Particular attention is given to greener approaches to sample preparation and the use of unconventional, environmentally friendly solvents (such as natural solvents, deep eutectic solvents, ionic liquids, supercritical fluids, and subcritical water), as well as environmentally friendly extraction techniques. Her current research also includes the physicochemical characterization of extracts using appropriate separation and spectroscopic analysis techniques. Another focus is the development of innovative, sustainable methodologies for extracting and removing pollutants from complex environmental matrices.
